My brother-in-law suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the ER by ambulance. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. This is how I met Jessica, she was on duty that afternoon. From the moment she introduced herself to us she brought a calm to the storm. We (the family) were all very worried not knowing what was happening. She asked if we needed anything as she checked on us. She is a very compassionate, empathetic nurse. When she later came in with the news that he had died, she was so gentle yet professional and showed genuine compassion to all of us. I became very emotional and became sick and she helped me above the call. We were allowed plenty of time with his body in the ER room. She explained everything, even the tube that remained. As more family and friends gathered, she continued to check on us expressing her condolences, hugs given, and tears shed. She had water and snacks brought to us also. She also explained the process of the coroner, funeral home, etc. I don't remember everything she said but I will always remember how she made me feel. She is a jewel and a blessing. I thank God he sent her our way during this gut-wrenching experience.
Having worked in the health care field most of my life, I have run into many caregivers, but not many who are as genuinely involved as Jessica. She was not only there to care for him but she was a light in a very dark moment for us.
My sister has been a nurse for 30+ years and at the end of the day, she said, "Jessica was an exemplary nurse and a definite asset to Blessing Hospital", I couldn't agree more.
Thank you, Jessica, God Bless You!
