...I was 21 weeks, 5 days pregnant and on vacation traveling through Little Rock when my water broke. I came to the ER and was admitted to L&D, where I delivered my twin baby boys. It was too early for my sweet boys to survive. Losing your children is something that cannot be prepared for. My husband, mom and dad were traveling with me and we were all in complete disbelief and sorrow for the loss of our boys. After the delivery and everyone had left, Jessica was there, not only as a nurse, but as a great comfort in a time of overwhelming loss.

I am a nurse too, so I know that much more goes in to the job than what can be taught in nursing school. A person cannot be taught kindness and compassion. These attributes come from within. Jessica brought the boys to our room for us to hold and say goodbye to. I was scared to see them before she brought them in, but she told me they were perfect babies, just small. And they were, so perfect and beautiful! She talked to us and gave us the greatest comfort in that difficult time. She went through the box of things the hospital and nurses had made for us to remember our boys. The nurses had taken photos, made bracelets, given us little teddy bears, made footprints, and created moldings of their perfect little feet.

Jessica helped us to feel joyful that we got to grow these perfect babies and that they felt no pain as they passed quietly from life on earth to life with God. We could not have prayed for a better nurse in that time of such pain and grief. I know that she will bless many other patients and hope that she will be recognized for the great work that she does. My husband and I will be forever thankful for her great kindness in our time of sorrow.
