If one reviews the NCH ER admittance data on 1/20/12, I believe you would discover that this day/evening was perhaps one of the busiest times at NCH in recent history. My 95 year old mother-in-law, was one of many incoming ER patients. Although our wait time for a room for was 11+ hours, Jessica Walsh, her assigned ER nurse demonstrated excellent care and attention as well as great compassion for her, my husband, and me during our long wait. During our exceptionally long wait, Jessica kept us apprised of her status as well as maintaining her composure and genuine personality during such demanding circumstances.
Under extremely crowded conditions, she demonstrated exceptional nursing care with a high level of energy and professionalism. Jessica stayed well beyond the end of her shift to provide assistance and the necessary care for patients. Jessica is one of NCH’s “gems” worthy of recognition with the DAISY Award.
