In November I was admitted into the hospital at 24 weeks pregnant. I was scared, nervous, and worried about my baby girl. The first nurse and person I met on 2H was Jill Dayer. She was amazing. The first thing she told me was to get comfortable because I was going to be here awhile! I just laughed at her, but little did I know she was correct. The staff on 2H are like no other. They show great compassion to their patients. From day one Jill and I bonded. I believe God puts people in your life when you need them the most, and during my 67 days in the hospital I needed Jill. She would come into my room during morning rounds and I would know immediately what type of day we were going to have. On my bad days, Jill was always right there with me, from starting my IV, giving me pain meds, or just sitting and talking with me to calm my mind. She would check on me on her days off and when she was on vacation.
One event stands out to me the most. It was the Tuesday before I had my daughter. At the end of Jill's shift, she came into my room to tell me bye, like she always did, and immediately she knew something was wrong. I thought my water broke. She immediately took action. After the results came back and we confirmed it had not, she still stayed with me until my husband got to the hospital. Her shift ended at 7, but she stayed until almost 9 that night. The next day, she texted me to check on me. On that early Friday morning, I texted Jill and told her I was about to have my baby. She reassured me everything was going to be fine. She was correct. I delivered a 3lb 10oz baby girl at 33 wks. That afternoon, Jill came up on her day off to check on me and my baby. I am very lucky that I work at Baptist and still get to see Jill. I'm so blessed God put in her my life when he did. Jill is not only is an amazing nurse but an amazing person.
