My husband, at the young age of 27, needed a Whipple operation due to a horse accident. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult situation for our family. Since being at Banner we have had the pleasure of encountering a lot of smiling faces but one in particular stood out.
Jill was amazing from the moment she came on her first shift with us. I could immediately sense her warm heart and compassion for what my husband was going through. She was determined to help him progress with his recovery. There was not a moment that went by that she did not advocate for him. She took the time to get to know us, learn our situation and where we came from. She cared!
After leaving Banner, my husband had to return for other medical issues pertaining to his surgery. When we got back here I was extremely nervous. When we learned that nurse Jill would be caring for him, that all went away. I felt a sense of relief. I knew he would be in the best hands. He experienced a lot of pain this second trip. Jill would sit on his bed and talk him through it, she cried with us and advocated for him. She was continuously contacting doctors on call to switch medication, get answers, request their presence, etc. She made our experience at Banner a good one. Through our entire experience she was humble, compassionate, loving, hard-working, selfless and experienced. She was amazing!
They say, "The best thing about the worst time of your life is that you get to see the true colors of everyone". This couldn't be more true. Jill gave us every ounce of her heart while caring for us. I can only hope that she knows how appreciated she is!
