I am writing to let you know how grateful I am that I was put under your care during my last couple of days at Children's. You were by far the best nurse I could have had to get me on my feet and on the road to recovery. It may not have seemed like much, but when you took time out of your schedule to ease my worries and hear me out, I felt relief that no medicine could have provided. You really turned things around for me mentally. I realized that my body couldn't get better unless my mind truly wanted.
The transition to home was difficult, but I took your advice and had tons of friends over, binge watched Netflix, and became best buds with my water bottle. I repeated your words in my head and knew it would get better with time. A few days later, my pediatrician diagnosed me with POTS, so I am currently in the process of medication and lifestyle changes so I can return to my normal level of activity. I know you'd be happy to know I have upgraded from one piece of fruit at a time to almost full meals!
I will never forget all that you did for me during my stay at Children's. Thank you for always pushing me, even when I was hesitant. Your understanding and funny spirit while you talked to me marked a turning point in my recovery. I know you were right on when you said my mom wouldn't have wanted me stuck sulking in a hospital bed. Thanks again!
