One evening a patient with some psychiatric issues had concerns about her midline. She was very apprehensive about the care she was receiving and had concerns about the way she was being drawn and the way that some staff was caring for her line.
This patient has OCD and requires frequent reassurances. Even though the midline was already placed, Jill took the time to come up to see the patient, readdress her concerns and had a teaching moment with staff in the room and family at the bedside to make the patient feel more comfortable about future care.
She was very calm and soothing to the patient. She stood out so much to me with how well she diverted the patient's worry and madeher feel at ease. She talked to her and advised her to think about the plan and let it set in so that she would be comfortable. She has the best bedside manner I have ever seen. She did not pressure the patient and was very calm with her and addressed every need with her. She did not have to come up to see the patient, but she took time out of her busy schedule to calm her fears.
Jill is an asset to the hospital and provides outstanding care.
