ENS Kolaszewski has made a huge impact since his arrival to the Multi-Service Ward (MSW). Upon his arrival, the MSW working morale has improved dramatically. ENS Kolaszewski actively seeks out opportunities to elevate the entire unit's delivery of care. Navy Corpsmen rally to his call, he sincerely arms them with knowledge, treats them with respect, encourages higher expectations, and truly cares for everyone as an important part of the healthcare team. He is the first to intervene, deliver in-action patient care excellence, think of alternative solutions, and delivers outstanding customer service. I have personally interacted with patients after he has cared for them. They are all very grateful to him, stating his outstanding care reflects great credit on Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune's (NMCCL) mission. Patients state "I will always get my care from Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune".
ENS Kolaszewski is a never tiring patient advocate. He has fervently pursued improving clinical delivery of vascular access at NMCCL. Intravenous access in the hospital is many times a source of pain and anxiety for patients. ENS Kolaszewski quickly identifies patients who are difficult vascular access candidates and intervenes with expert consultation, resulting in decreased IV attempts. His actions provide greater patient comfort and confidence in our organization. ENS Kolaszewski is the embodiment of committed patient care. His commitment shines not only to patients but engulfs the entire medical, nursing, and ancillary staff on the MSW and the surrounding departments. He is a new nurse at NMCCL, however, in such a brief amount of time, he has created an incredible amount of positive peer pressure, esprit de corps, and has directly contributed to an enjoyable work environment.
