Joy took care of my father. She was exactly what any family would want in a nurse! She was extremely attentive! He was very agitated and she tried everything she could think of to keep his hands busy so he could do his fidgeting and not pull on his oxygen or IV. She heard my brother make a reference to daddy folding and unfolding napkins - in just a minute she came back with a stack of washcloths for him to unfold. This is just one example of how she went above and beyond to care for him and made his stay more tolerable. The way she would lean over and look him in the eye, hold and rub his hand and smile at him was like she was looking at her own grandfather! She spoke to him in the calmest, kindest way.

Even when he would "fight" her, she NEVER changed her tone! She was the same no matter how he acted and you could "feel" the compassion in the way she dealt with him! I left and returned around 6:30pm and she appeared tired but NEVER let that show in the way she tended to him.
