A Thank You note to Julie Wagner:
We wanted to tell you how much we appreciated the help and support you offered to our daughter during her pregnancy and after the birth of her baby. She struggled with addiction for a number of years and in a sort of divine intervention, was arrested and jailed for a short period of time. This actually gave her the jumpstart she needed to get clean. After her release, she met someone who had been through many of the same things and who had also gotten himself back on track. They started a life together and to their surprise, learned they would have a baby after being told it was nearly impossible she would ever conceive. This is when she met you and we remember her telling us about the wonderful Julie person at the OB's office who was so supportive and helpful and most importantly, did not pass judgement on her for her past. You just worked with her to help her have a healthy pregnancy and baby. She has been told that the baby might have to stay a few extra days due to having been on methadone for part of the pregnancy. She was determined to wean herself off before the baby was born. About three weeks before the baby was born, she was off the methadone completely. She had a normal delivery and the baby was born full term, was healthy, and did not need to stay any extra time. We just wanted to let you know that what you do is worth it. It matters. It makes a difference and your ability to not pre-judge or look down on someone for past actions and decisions, but rather to support and encourage her to keep moving forward, is something that truly helped make a difference and is very much appreciated.
