Karen Bonner has been a care manager at CHP since December 2004. She came to the instituion with an excellent knowledge base of pediatrics from her prior experiences in home care. Her responsibilities of being the care manager for the transplant and ICC services present challenges due to the patients being from various areas around the country as well as international patients. Karen works diligently to ensure that her patients receive everything they need when they are discharged from the hospital. She is also an advocate for her patients. She has gone above and beyond to get a patient transferred to The Children's Home so that the family could learn how to care for the patient since they would not receive any private duty nursing services at home. Karen is a team player and always willing to pitch in and help in any way she can. With her level of commitment and support to the patients, parents and staff of CHP, I can't think of anyone else who is more deserving of receiving the Daisy Award.
