Karen Bostick, Emergency Room Director, did a wonderful job with planning the new Emergency Room and the accompanying move. This was a very complex situation due to equipment, unknown with patient volumes, being prepared for EMS arrival at any time, etc. All staff had to be oriented to the new area so they would know how to function when they first arrive to the new work area. Karen was involved in doing those orientations. She had to work with all areas to coordinate what was moving, what was not, what was biomed moving, EVS moving, Granger, etc. Then the question of what could be moved before we move patients. All this had to be done while still running a very busy and overcrowded ED. Karen worked long and hard, the ED patient satisfaction stayed in the green. They did not let up on any fronts. Karen was always here sometimes way too long of hours to be healthy for herself. She was there the entire night of the move and the day after. With her calmness, "can do attitude" and knowledge and skills, it was a flawless move. I had been concerned about this move but had no reason to be concerned. It was handled expertly.
