Kate Heffernan is an exceptional nurse having attended to my teenage son during his procedure. Kate first greeted myself and my husband upon arrival to the OR with a smile and a warm hello. Her natural kindness and empathy were warming to our hearts as we all were nervous for this morning. Kate continued to remain attentive, asking questions and providing education on what to expect during our brief stay as well as pre and post-op procedures and after care.
Kate exudes kindness, knowledge, empathy, and expertise in her area. It is apparent that her work is not merely a "job' for her but a vocation. Kate's demeanor and confidence helped all of us remain calm during the operation.
Kate stands out more than others in her field as she is open, cooperative, knowledgeable, hands on, she exhibits expertise in collaborative care, human development and interpersonal skills. Her confidence in her work is evident and she is a true asset to AO Fox in Oneonta!
Kate deserves this award because so often front-line workers in human services go unacknowledged for the care and compassion they provide for others. She truly deserves to be acknowledged for who she is as a person, her skill set as a nurse and what an asset she is to the ambulatory department. My family will pass on its experience to others to use AO Fox for their child's care and needs. In my line of work, I believe it is the people who provide the most important of services and in doing so have the influence to touch a life no matter how small.
Kate displays her dedication to the hospital, her work and its vision through her work; She connects to people easily (Relationships), Displays expertise in her area as well as confidence in her profession (Excellence), She follows all procedures within the hospital setting (Accountability), Supported other staff members when needed and met all needs of my son during his short stay (Service), Collaborated with Physicians and other staff to assist my son and prepare for the procedure (Learning and Integration).
