Most recently I ran into Kathy while we both were visiting a fellow co-worker and friend who was admitted to JMH. Her kindness, love, and appreciation for her fellow peer touch my heart, and for a small second, I told myself to see through nominating her for this recognition. I often reminiscence on my journey at JHS, and for as long as I can remember, Kathy has been a fixture on different accomplishments. Her determination for better patient care has seen her involved on different projects which have achieved superior cost, quality and outcomes for wound care prevention and treatment. Most recently, her expertise - along with that of the WOC team- helped establish an algorithm for dressing and skin care topical products, which helped standardize practices and eliminate supply redundancy. Her support enabled our Value Analysis Team in choosing the right vendor for the right form of treatment; ultimately leading the Trust to achieve $34,540 in supply cost reductions for this specific project. She is also a committed steward for compliance among our vendor population, often helping our Division monitor and regulates the presence and movement of vendor representatives across the System. Her due diligence in doing so has minimized vendor disruption in clinical areas; enforce the integrity of the procurement process to review new items; and minimize unauthorized vendor influence. She is an advocate for vendors to meet JHS's need for security, transparent business practices, maintain patient safety and the standard of care. Her willingness to educate new and existing nurse on appropriate wound, ostomy and continence practices makes a powerful impact on how we provide superior care to our patients. She actively displays compassion, accountability, respect and expertise in her contribution to the advancement of her RN peers to practice and deliver expert healthcare to those with WOC needs. Her demeanor when coaching is one that is respectful of others, adaptive to change, and accountable for outcomes. Through my interactions, I've known her to be supportive of evidence-based clinical and educational processes and to foster a high regard for quality patient and family outcomes. Kathy's coaching exemplifies JHS's commitment to train and retain superior clinical staff. I believe these are a few of the many attributes that make Kathy deserving of our profound respect for the education, training, brainpower and skill she puts in her work.
