I am an RN at Valley, but in July, I was a patient. Kathy was so kind, considerate, and knowledgeable with my whole pre-op experience. She treated me respectfully as a patient, even though she knew me also as a fellow nurse. As I was getting prepped, Kathy also explained to me that I would have an RN at my side during the procedure and told me his name. Although he is an excellent nurse, I was a bit "squeamish" having a male RN whom I had worked with for a few years and knew well. Kathy sensed this immediately and volunteered to be my nurse instead! Kathy went above and beyond the assigned duties for that day. She really cared for me as a person and my feelings. She so demonstrated empathy, a caring attitude and nursing excellence.
