It does not take long after meeting Katrina when you realize there is something special about her; before you know it, you feel like you are talking to an old friend. Katrina has the gift of a listening ear and has a calm presence in even the most stressful of situations. Her love, compassion, and natural nurturing tendencies are evident in her interactions with patients, families, and coworkers.
It is the little (and not so little!) things she does that make all the difference; from finding a Pepsi for a patient or sitting down in a quiet place to listen to the needs of a stressed-out family. Patients, families, and co-workers alike feel comforted by Katrina.
Not only does Katrina excel in emotional support, but also as a clinician. She remains curious when seeking understanding and remains unafraid of the messiness she may find in the middle.
Katrina is a team player, willing to jump right in and do whatever is needed and without being asked. She will pitch in and help housekeeping clean a room on busy days so that sick patients can be admitted sooner. Over the holidays, she navigated the unfamiliar unit closing process with her positive, "can do" attitude.
When Katrina is near you always feel cared for. Here are a few examples of peers singing her praises: "Katrina is one of the most compassionate human beings that I have ever met.", "Katrina is an outstanding nurse who always takes the greatest care of her patients.","I never have a bad day when Katrina is here."
Katrina, you are creative, passionate, and your ideas are endless. Your happiness makes everyone else happy to work with you; you bring joy to the workplace.
