Kelly one of the best nurses I have ever had the privilege of working with. She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure all of our patients receive the best and safest care and that staff is supported to provide that care. Kelly works in the NICU in both staff nurse and relief charge nurse roles and is fantastic at both. As a staff nurse, she is extremely knowledgeable, organized, and skillful in her care. She is always comfortable taking the most complex patients and gladly helps out others around her when their patients get busy. She keeps a cool head in an emergency and is an invaluable resource in code situations. She is recognized by new and seasoned nurses alike as a great resource for both her theoretical knowledge of the neonatal population and her hands-on skills. She is also personable and compassionate with the babies and their families. She comes to work every shift with a positive attitude that is contagious to those around her. As a charge nurse, Kelly can always be counted on to stay in touch with the nurses on the unit, checking in frequently to see if they need help and seeking their input on what patient pairings are the most appropriated. Kelly is also super flexible, willing to do whatever is needed to be sure our patients are cared for, whether that means changing assignments, picking up patients, or being the delivery or charge nurse, Kelly does it all with a positive attitude. When the NICU gets busy, and staffing gets tight, Kelly will frequently stay late or come in early to ensure we have enough nurses to safely care for our patients. As I said at the beginning, Kelly is one of the best nurses I have ever worked with. I am always happy to work with Kelly and would gladly have Kelly as a nurse for my own children!
Kelly is a highly valuable resource in the NICU and she contributes to the unit in varies ways. Kelly offers the unit experience, professionalism, and skill. She continues to support staff on the night shift and viewed as a top resource. Kelly truly shines as a facilitator of learning. She consistently seeks out new staff to help build on their experiences and knowledge. Kelly not only focuses on her own success but truly values the success of her peers. As a preceptor in the NICU, she reaches out to new staff before they even start at CHW to start to build a relationship with them. She works closely with new staff and adjusts her teaching style to their learning needs.
As a charge nurse and delivery nurse, she consistently supports the families, patients, and staff. Kelly is constantly rounding through the unit and truly cares about how the staff is doing. She is always ready to jump in and help, while still offering peers the experiences for their own growth. This rolls right into her bedside nurse role as well. Kelly is a strong and respectable advocate for her patients. She has a gift for working with families and helping them process the stress of a NICU journey. Kelly is an outstanding nurse and the NICU is proud to have her on their team.
