My husband was admitted to Hackensack Medical for a colonoscopy with Dr. G. Two days prior to our visit, my husband had hurt his right foot. He had to use crutches the day before and was in pain from the injury. Although our trip to the hospital was an hour and 20 minutes he decided to go through with the procedure because he had prepped the previous day and believe me that was no fun for him on crutches.
From the moment we arrived for the colonoscopy, Keri was concerned. She made sure he was as comfortable as possible and asked him about his injury. He told her he was going to the ER as soon as the colonoscopy was over, and she suggested that he go to an Orthopedic she and Dr. G knew. She felt that he may spend hours waiting in the ER and maybe he could be seen faster with their referral. She asked me about our health insurance. She then made several calls to the Orthopedic and was able to get my husband an appointment right after he was released from the colonoscopy. He was thrilled because he was in pain and she was able to get him in for x-rays right away to be sure his foot was not broken.
It was a busy day – we left at 5:30am and got home at 5:00pm and we were tired. His injury turned out to be tendinitis and we were able to treat the injury immediately. We were so impressed and grateful with the extra care and compassion Keri showed. She was busy running around in several directions with her hospital duties but still made time to call and get us in for a same day appointment. She even made me feel like becoming a nurse!
