... I went into labor with my daughter. I was 37 weeks pregnant and my water broke. I was admitted around three in the morning. Kerry became my nurse at seven that morning and instantly felt at ease with her. Around noon I found out I was not dilating. After being checked on a few more times, by four that evening I had still not dilated. Kerry was caring and honest with me about my options. She was extremely compassionate and showed that she really cared about both my baby's health and mine. She was patient and always took a minute to explain anything that I asked a question about and I had many. This was my first pregnancy and as we approached the 24 hour mark, she was extremely reassuring and made me feel much better about the situation I was in. As Kerry went off shift at seven that evening she told me she would come and visit me and the baby on her break the next day when she came in.

The action that truly showed me what an exceptional person and nurse she was happened the next morning. At midnight they had discovered I was finally dilating. At six in the morning I was finally ready to push after 28 hours of labor. I pushed for about an hour when Kerry walked in the room. She had come back on for another shift at seven that morning and made sure that she was nurse when she heard I had not yet delivered. It was extremely comforting and reassuring when she walked in the room at seven that morning. It meant a lot when she was there to help me through the birth of my daughter at 7:17 that morning. She even visited us in recovery later that day. Kerry proved that she is not only a caring and thoughtful person but an exceptional nurse. She made me feel comfortable when I needed it most. She is an asset to her profession and to Holy Cross. I feel blessed to have met her and had the good fortune to have her as my nurse.
