Kevin is possibly the most welcoming person I have I ever met, for patients, family members, staff, and new grad nurses. I was lucky enough to not only have Kevin direct my new grad nursing group but also be my one-to-one preceptor. In those eight weeks, Kevin built my confidence professionally and personally. His energy is contagious, after 14 years of serving CMC, his amazing personality and joy have not wavered.
In the last year, Kevin has been the adult infusion nurse, a float pool nurse and most recently taking on the new role of working in the nephrology clinic. All of these shifts in positions were for the most part not by choice but instead were places help was needed the most, so that's where Kevin went, all the while keeping a constant smile on his face and a positive attitude.
An example of Kevin's compassion that affected me professionally and personally was when my mom was admitted to CMC's M/S floor. She was admitted for eight days and I was fresh out of the new grad program. My stress was out of control and I didn't want to let it affect my own patients' care. So naturally, I went to Kevin, who happened to by the charge nurse that night. He told me "G (he also nicknames everyone), don't worry I'll take care of your mom tonight." Keep in mind this was during a time when charge nurses did not take patients. This act of selflessness and compassion is something that Kevin does for others on a daily basis.
One of the most important lessons that Kevin taught me was to laugh with my patients and to not be afraid to get to know them. I could write a book of examples about what a compassionate, selfless, and intelligent person Jones is. Kevin lifts people up (patients and colleagues alike) and brings joy to CMC every day.

Kevin Jones is the nurse who we all strive to be. He recently took a position in the new outpatient nephrology office where he is helping to develop the office to be more efficient and patient-centered. He meets these new challenges with excitement.
His passion for teaching is unparalleled. Recently, I was oriented to the office and his enthusiasm for supporting young nurses as they learn is refreshing. During this time, I was able to shadow Kevin and observe the relationships he has developed with his patients. Not only does he know why the patient is there and where in Montana they are from, but he knows who is anxious about their appointment and who likes to chat about their dog. He provides patient-specific education and takes the time to answer questions.
Kevin also makes an effort to spread joy amongst his coworkers. He also has a special place in his heart for helping others and if Kevin has a spare minute, is always willing to lend you a helping hand.

Kevin, on numerous times, has stopped what he is doing to help out his fellow coworkers. He also takes the time to stop and teach at any at all opportunities. He has your back you cannot ask for a better coworker.

Kevin is the epitome of a great nurse. While working on Med/Surg he was the "go-to guy"! He is so knowledgeable and always had an answer. He has nothing negative to say ever, even in the worst situations. Kevin always cheers everyone on! His bedside manner is impeccable. I've even seen him making rounds on patients that he sees with Dr. C in the clinic. He truly cares about each one!
I am part of the midline team with Kevin and he rallies for me every time I go to do one. He often has more confidence in me than I do myself.
Jones has influenced so many young nurses in this hospital, he boosts morale, boosts confidence, and puts a smile on everyone's face! We miss him in the hospital! Dr. C is very lucky to have him!
