After years of trying fertility, my wife and I were finally able to get pregnant in the summer of 2011. We were elated and excited to start our family. We went in for our 38 week check-up in February 2012, and learned that our child had passed away. We later learned it was due to a cord accident around the neck. Kim was our delivery nurse in February 2012. Due to the circumstances, it was a very emotional situation. Kim was such a help and support throughout our stay. While my wife slept in the hospital room, I will always remember sitting outside the room and crying in the middle of the night. Kim came up and sat with me and offered support and advice for a very tough situation. Later in 2012, my wife and I were blessed to find ourselves pregnant again. In January 2013, as we went in for the delivery of our second child, we were very happy to see that Kim was there to be with us during the process of delivery. Kim was such a support to us during the second delivery, as given our history we were a bundle of nerves. Kim was such a help through the process and we were honored that she was able to be there for the birth of our second son. Kim is one of the main reasons that we wanted to come back to IU Health, even after such an emotional first delivery visit. It is very rare that people are in your life for less than 24 hours, yet will leave a positive impact that you will never forget. Kim is one of those people. The birth of our first son will always have mixed emotions for us but Kim is one of those positive memories for us when we think about that day. She helped us take those very hard, early steps toward our emotional recovery.
