Nurses at MVH are always glad to see Kim Holliday arrive on the unit to support our patients and their families with the many skin and wound issues they are experiencing. She works well with a team of WOCN nurses to assess, treat and evaluate skin concerns. Wound management, drainage containment and tricky ostomies often perplex the bedside nurse. We know Kim and the wound team will support us in our time of need. She is proactive in preventing skin breakdown and a great patient advocate.

Kim has studied and become a Certified Wound/Ostomy nurse. Her goal is to also become certified in continence to complete the CWON Certification. She is co chair of our SWAT or Skin Wound Assessment Team which is responsible for quarterly hospital wide prevalence studies and follow up committee meetings to share information to better our patient outcomes on the nursing units. She is active in regional CWON groups and the Dayton area Ostomy Support Group. Kim is very involved in her church activities and has strong family ties.

It is obvious Kim has a love of teaching others, be it her patients, their families or staff. She really connects with people; putting them at ease and opening doors for them to learn. Her down to earth approach makes it easy for others to trust her. She has found her niche on the wound and skin team to make a difference for others and let her light shine.

The following nomination is from a patient’s daughter:

Kimberly Holliday, what a joy she is! She took a difficult process and made it doable.
My mom actually looks forward to her visits! She is bubbly, energetic and so positive. What an asset she is to Miami Valley Hospital!
