S had double by-pass surgery and was cared for by many outstanding, wonderful nurses. One who will live in our memories for the rest of our lives is Kindel Keener. Her nursing skill, medical knowledge, and untiring attention to detail was lifesaving. When S's BP was crashing, Kindel noticed a clot in his chest tube and worked tirelessly to resolve the problem.
Kindel, who must have extraordinary hearing, would listen to every single worry, fear, question and doubt S and I would express to each other. She was always there to comfort, reassure, calm, encourage, and educate us. She always seemed to ask the right questions and give the best answer, both medical and emotional.
S has many interests and talents. Kindel was able to converse with him on many subjects. It was so good for him to think about something besides his health and pain, and to laugh!
We felt as though Kindel was our nurse, our therapist, and our friend. We said good night to her well past 7PM and good morning to her ever-smiling face before 7AM the following morning.
Kindel's attention to detail, again both medically and emotionally, was flawless and personally reassuring. She knew we were terrified to leave the excellent medical attention S received from all of the doctors, nurses, CNAs, exercise physiologists, techs, and nutritionists at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. Oh, how we would have loved to put Kindel in our pocket and take her home with us!
