Kirsten has been an exceptional nurse for my husband. She has gone above and beyond for him and really made us comfortable (as much as you can be in a hospital). At one point, he wasn't eating well and she walked to the cafeteria herself and got him some yogurt. She really cares for her patients. She has brought me coffee several times and I hadn't even asked for it. No matter what we needed, she was on top of it.
Kirsten was here when we first arrived and then she was off for a few days. We requested her as his nurse when she is here. She is what a nurse should be. She has genuine love and concern for her patients and their families. I'm glad we got to meet her. She is one of those people you don't ever forget because she showed you kindness and compassion in your time of need. She is awesome!

Kirsten is kind, compassionate, empathetic, and is a true patient advocate. She always goes above and beyond and is frequently recognized by patients, peers, and physicians. She cares for her patients, but she also always takes her co-workers into consideration.

As I was returning to work one evening, I noticed that Kirsten was sitting in her car in the flag circle. It was just after shift change and she was still wearing her scrubs from her day shift. When I approached her to say hello and ask why she was "hanging out" in the circle, she said she was waiting on a Registry staff nurse that had also worked day shift on 8E that day. Kirsten went on to say that she was waiting to give her friend a ride to her car, so that she would not have to walk all the way to A lot. Her friend is 8 months pregnant and had just completed a 12-hour shift. Kirsten had left 8E at the end of her shift, walked to A lot, and then drove her car back to the flag circle to pick up her friend. This is just one of the many examples of how Kirsten literally "goes the extra mile" to care for others.
