Kris made her job seem like it wasn't a job but a calling, a purpose. Her smile and generosity in spirit filled the room every time she entered. Kindness and compassion were shown at every turn. Here are five ways Kris made a difference:
1. She saw me as a person and understood the major life change it was for me to go from mighty active to depending on people for all my needs. I dislocated my hip, fractured the femoral head, my wrist and tore a rotator cuff. I wasn't mobile. She helped me understand I would heal and go back to my life in time.
2. She made things happen for me - PT, OT, and getting the resident and NP to see me. I was given very little contact with a doctor and had no idea of treatment or outcome until she got people to see me.
3. She was my cheerleader - "you can do this, you are amazing" - using words that spurred me on.
4. Kris did not wait for me to need something. She anticipated and checked and was there for me. She listened to my concerns.
5. Best of all, my first morning there she asked if I would like a real coffee from the café. She brought me a Speeder and Earl's coffee to replace the hospital coffee. It was the best medicine and then she did that each day until I was discharged. This kind gesture was the biggest gift to me.
Thank you, Kris!!
