A few weekends back I was taking care of a very sick patient whose central line got inadvertently pulled in the process of patient care. Not the best thing to happen when the patient had no peripheral access and no possibility of finding one on his very swollen arms. To make matters worse, the patient had such difficult venous access that his central catheter was placed in the IR! This patient needed IV access fast, and I was desperate and running out of options. Kristine was the charge nurse that day and had a patient as well. She was busy that day. I was frustrated and desperate for a line. She told me not to worry; she would take care of it, and then inserted a midline for my patient. This is not a simple, two-minute job. It takes time. Yet she was willing, without any complaint. I was very grateful for her help, to say the least. I have been working beside her for several years now, and I cannot tell you enough how helpful she is, and how thoroughly concerned for her patients' well-being. Nothing is too difficult for her, and she will go out of her way to help the staff and the patients, no matter how crazy or hurried the day had become.

Kris always goes the extra mile for her patients. She uses her clinical skills to benefit not only her patients but always helps others with volunteering to insert PICCs and ART lines which are greatly appreciated by both nursing and respiratory.

Kris was my preceptor for a couple of days. During those days, I enjoyed (and learned) every single minute of the shift with her. She is very knowledgeable. I see her going above and beyond, and this is not only for the patients but also for all of us on the unit. It doesn't matter whether she is working as charge nurse or a regular floor nurse, she is always there for everyone. Thank you, Kris, for all you do. You are true DAISY for all of us.
