Kryshauna obtained her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2007 and launched her nursing career at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in the Progressive Care Unit. In 2008, Kryshauna came to Scripps Mercy Hospital, successfully graduated from the ICU Training Program, and now practices in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Within the last year, Kryshauna has made the transition from the night shift to the day shift.

This DAISY Award nomination arose from a patient and his sister, commending Kryshauna for her compassionate care. In the words of the patient's sister, "Kryshauna always goes above and beyond her duties as a nurse to help A, a ventilator dependent quadriplegic who had not been outside of his room in the SICU in almost a year. On two different occasions, Kryshauna managed to take A up to the rooftop where he could see the ocean and feel the fresh air on his face, breathing it through his nose. Unless one has an understanding of how this seemly ordinary thing most of us take for granted, you would not appreciate how much this meant to A and his family and just how much it lifted his spirits. Thank you Scripps Mercy for having such a wonderful nurse on your staff."

Kryshauna is passionate about the vital role nurses play in the care of each patient. She consistently delivers quality, compassionate care to diverse patients and their family members facing traumatic and life-altering events. Kryshauna is enthusiastic with boundless energy, consistently greeting her co-workers and patients with a warm smile.
