Recently, one of our own precious nurses, C, delivered a healthy baby boy. After delivery C had some complications and became very sick. The Labor and Delivery team defined a life-threatening condition (that mothers are rarely able to survive) early and worked tirelessly with the House Supervisor team, and Physicians to save her life in the operating room. C was admitted to ICU and put on a ventilator. Amy and Rosemary went to go visit our dear C and her husband was saying that C was asking about her precious baby boy. The Medical ICU Nurses, Amy, and Rosemary talked with him and said they would be happy to bring the baby to her so she could see him and do some skin to skin. A few minutes later, they brought the baby to C and placed him on her chest for skin to skin. Amy and Rosemary stayed with C and her baby while they were doing skin to skin. After a few minutes, her vitals were becoming more stable, and after forty minutes, C was able to be taken off of the ventilator. The pulmonologist thanked the girls for bringing her the baby because she did not think she would have been able to come off the ventilator as quick. Amy and Rosemary will tell you they were just doing their jobs, but they did go the extra mile and took time out of their busy day to make sure this brand new mom was able to see her baby. Looking at how things unfolded, C was able to see her baby and God was able to do his work on the process of C's healing.
