Lacey gave me a patient in report who had just been transferred from the PICU an hour earlier and had both a trach and EVD. Lacey took the initiative to get everything set up for me at the beginning of my shift. She set up the trach travel bag, stocked the entire room with all the supplies the patient would need, and organized the room beautifully. She also completed a very thorough admission assessment and noticed a possible pressure ulcer on the patient that had not been found prior. When completing 360 in 60, the patient's parents were present and had a lot of concerns and questions about the patient's care. Lacey answered all of their questions with such kindness, and the questions she didn't know the answer to, she consulted with the doctors and got back to the parents, even though it meant staying past her shift. Lacey ended up staying two hours past her shift end time to make sure that I would have a smooth night. The beginning of my shift was very hectic, and Lacey helped me out tremendously. She started the patient's feed, got his medications prepared, and helped tie up various loose ends from his PICU transfer. Lacey went above and beyond for both me and the patient, the entire time with a smile. I am so grateful for her and glad that she is my coworker.
