I was burned 15% of my body and was admitted on May 31st. From the moment I entered the NMC till my discharge on June 7th I was taken care of with the most respect and upmost tender care. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable and my family was taken care of. My daughter works over on 5 West and was given frequent updates of my progress so she was able to work at the time. My family was able to stay by my side and I was moved to a larger room to accommodate my family. The staff had the attitude of ‘I want to help you’.

The housekeeper checked on my wife and me daily and was willing to help with anything I needed.”

Doctor R and the NP allowed family to be in on dressing changes to learn and see daily progress, and will give a CD of pictures when healed. Teaching with my new prognosis started on admission and I was not overwhelmed on discharge.

A smile goes a long way and I had about 100 a day from the staff. They allowed my daughter to shave and wash my hair daily, as well as letting one of her coworkers give me a massage to help me relax. They knew my faith is very important to me and ensured that the chaplain came daily. I received daily communion and found comfort in the chaplain’s words.

It was impressive to see the tremendous amount of teamwork and dedication from the staff, whether it be the housekeeper to the staff nurse, from the social worker to Dr. R and the NP. It shows that the staff members are dedicated to their commitment of continuing education and patient care.
