Laura Montes is a valuable team member at our Dialysis South clinic and is constantly finding new ways to solve problems, which has helped garner the attention of our team. When problems arise on the floor she is capable of handling it in a peaceful and graceful manner. Self-motivated and proactive, she finds solutions to solve problems in a timely fashion, because as we know time can make the difference in patient comfort.
Laura is always welcoming in her nature and makes others feel good, especially the patients with who she works. One of the ways she cares for her fellow staff members is by constantly keeping an eye out for learning opportunities and coordinating with team members for refresher courses and even new areas of learning.
A situation I would like to bring to focus is when a patient had an unexpected episode at the end of a workday. I was feeling overwhelmed even after the event and informed Laura about what had happened. For the sake of patient privacy, we will not discuss the event in this medium, but more importantly, she had comforted me and said, "I will take care of the incident report," and asked me to go on completing rest of the work that day.
This was a prime example of how Laura had helped me as a team member. Like these, there are multiple situations she had encountered and solved problems without any further escalations. This just solidifies how her team spirit is outstanding, and how she is consistently reminding our staff to appreciate our own coworkers for their hard work and dedication to the team.
Overall, I would say Laura is an outstanding role model for the nursing profession. She generates enthusiasm and energy towards meeting the challenges of the nursing field. She consistently exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and exemplifies the essence of professional nursing in all areas of her work. She makes a difference in the lives of patients, their families, and staff by exemplifying the mission, vision, and core values of UHS.
Laura acts as a role model for patient-centered care by involving the patient and their families as part of the healthcare team and establishing a special connection with them. Communicating with compassion, using words the patient and family understand, and collaborating with health care team members are just some of the ways she maintains her advocacy for patient comfort. The goal as she teaches us is to create a positive, supportive, and a safe healing environment while also providing high-quality care to patients and their families. Thank you, Laura, for your valuable teamwork and positive attitude towards a high level of performance as a clinic manager.
