Laura Morasset became a staff nurse on 5 West in June of 2000. Since then, Laura has become actively involved in many task forces and committees. Laura is an advocate for her peers, and is continuously working on the perception of nurses and professionalism. She is truly dedicated to her nursing career. She is compassionate, kind, and very empathetic with patients and families. Laura believes that healing cannot take place if there is not adequate pain control. Because of this, she has earned her therapeutic touch license. She uses her skill to calm patients, families, friends and co-workers. Laura has lectured and demonstrated her art at conferences, grand rounds and nursing retreats. She is eager for others to know the physical and mental relief that she can help with. Laura is also on the Evidence Based Practice committee. She works hard to disseminate this information to her co-workers, and is the go-to person on 5 West. Laura is also one of our primary preceptors. She loves to teach and mentor her new graduates, and insists that they become professional in their practice, and work toward a wonderful career, not just a job. We all love Laura on 5 West, and are so glad that she has gotten this much deserved award. Her Grandmother thinks that she should receive this award every quarter, and we agree.
