There isn't just one story about Laurie, there are too many to write about. The four days that Laurie was in charge of my father's care made a meaningful difference. I don't believe he would have improved as quickly without her guidance and nurturing.
Laurie's voice was personable and light. She always had a smile for us no matter how late or busy she was. The quality of Laurie's skill level was evident. My father's rash on his back was persistent and so was she. At first, she tried different sheets and when the body cream didn't work, she called the pharmacy for a stronger prescriptive ointment. She also indicated that it might be a heat rash and a reaction to meds. If any levels or changes happened she was on it trying to find the answer. If I had a question, she had the answer or would find out. Laurie has a great sense of humor. She actually got him to drink Ensure. She would give it with his pills so would drink more. I can tell that Laurie has a passion for what she does and it shows. I wish we could adopt her and take Laurie home with us. My dad and I will miss her. PS I never worried about leaving my dad at night because Laurie was in charge.
