Lili Lobingier, RN Perinatal
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center has an annual Perinatal Loss remembrance service. It is a beautiful ceremony honoring all of the children and families that lost a child during their early day, weeks or months of life. During the reception afterwards, Lili introduced Naomi to her nurse manager.
Naomi is 5 and lost her little brother here. While she was here Lili gave her “Lumpy”. Lumpy is named after Heffalumps from Winnie the Poo and is a silly looking little stuffed elephant. The unit gives them siblings when they lose a brother or sister. Little Naomi wrote Lili a thank you note about how important Lumpy is to her. You see, according to Naomi’s mom, Lumpy goes everywhere with Naomi. It is a vehicle for them to talk about the loss and work through it together. Lili also had the brilliance to give Naomi a memory box to put things that remind her of her brother in. When they go to the gravesite, Lumpy always comes along and maybe something from the memory box to be placed at the site.
