Lily is an ideal nurse and an ideal peer. She is caring, compassionate and thorough, making sure she carries out the nursing process in the safest and most effective manner. She is skilled at updating providers and charge nurses regarding patient status, articulates her concerns well and has been instrumental in capturing patient complications early. She is our main resource for precepting nurses in sheath removal and a role model for what can be a stressful situation for both the nurse and the patient. As a peer, Lily is kind, respectful, humble and considerate. I like to follow her because I know that the patients I take over were cared for in the manner I would want to be care for if I were a patient. Once I overheard someone ask at the nurse’s station if Lily still worked here and, when told that she did but was off that day, he went on to say what an excellent nurse she was when she took care of his mother 5 years ago! For someone to remember your name and how excellent you were for that long is a feat in itself! Lily, you deserve to get this award for all the things you do best.
