Linda is very personable with our Mental Health (MH) patients. We had a female patient who was very confused and in need of intense MH care. We have patient-centered conferences with patients, families, doctors, social workers, therapists, MH workers. During the patient's stay, the doctor requested that the patient's family come to the team conference. Linda was able to speak with the patient's sister and assist with directions for the family member. On the day of the conference, Linda received a call from the patient's sister who indicated she went to the bus stop at 5 am to make the 8 am appointment. She stated the public bus had not arrived and it may be 2-3 hours before she can make it to the meeting. Linda talked with the doctor and requested if he could wait for the sister to arrive. He stated he would wait for her to discuss the patient's treatment. Linda came to the manager to request that since the sister was coming from a far distance, can the hospital provide transportation for the sister back to Detroit instead of having her wait for the bus from Taylor to Detroit. The sister was very thankful that Linda took the time to discuss her sister's care, have the doctor wait for her and most of all assisted her with transportation back home, especially since it was 90+ degrees outside. Linda was compassionate with both the patient and the family. She was focused on the patient because she deserved to have family involved in her care. Thank you, Linda.
