Linda Alexander, RN in the Emergency Department recently took care of a patient in his late 20's who presented to the ED with chest pain. Linda had a gut feeling that this patient was a candidate for the Cath Lab. Linda took the initiative, had an EKG done and asked the physician to call the Interventionalist. With Linda's constant care and persistence, the Interventionalist determined that the patient needed to go to the Cath Lab immediately. In the Cath Lab the patient was found to have greater than 95% blockage in his right coronary artery. This patient was the father of a 6 month old baby, and because of Linda's persistence and determination to be her patient's advocate his life was saved.
