Linda Ramsey is a dedicated, compassionate nurse who should be recognized for her exemplary work. As a nurse myself, I always strive to be the kind of nurse I want to work with. Linda IS the kind of nurse I want to work with. She is always at the clinic prepared for her shift well before 0800, she treats her colleagues and patients with respect. Ms. Ramsey is the PACT RN for a challenging Women's Health panel which includes many very conservative women who attend a local church. Linda takes extra measures to ensure that they are comfortable in the treatment area and throughout the clinic while they are here. When another nurse is out sick or on leave, she ensures her team and the other team have what they need from her.
A few months ago, an elderly patient of ours accidentally shot himself while performing maintenance on his firearms. He reported to an ER in the community where the wound was dressed, but shortly after the patient's leg started bleeding profusely again. The patient presented as a walk in to our clinic and Ms. Ramsey assessed the patient, worked seamlessly with her team, re-dressed his gunshot wound and held pressure on the bleeding wound until EMS arrived to transport the patient back to the hospital for re-evaluation and treatment. As I'm sure you know, the Hinesville CBOC is not a trauma center, and while Linda is not a trauma nurse, she was that day and the next when the same patient returned due to profuse bleeding of his gunshot wound. Ms. Ramsey sprang into action again, ensuring this patient was cared for to the best of our clinic's ability until EMS could transport him to the hospital again.
Linda caught me in my office as I began to write up this DAISY nomination. She said, "Don't you dare! I'm just doing my job. I don't need that." I believe all great nurses deserve to be recognized for what they do. Thank you, Linda, for all you do for your patients and your colleagues.
