I had the opportunity to observe nursing excellence. Linda was the primary nurse for a 24-year-old woman who required emergency interventions due to declining cardiac stability. Linda's clinical expertise and prompt interventions promoted the immediate action of the team needing to sustain this young woman's life. The patient proceeded to the Cardiovascular Lab where the team, including Jenny Gunter, provided for her outstanding care. Jenny attempted to inform and console the patient's husband.
Yet, concerned and knowing that the husband had the utmost trust in Linda, the patient's primary nurse Jenny, reached out to Linda. Jenny was inquiring who else could be present to support the husband as Linda knew the family. Linda immediately came down to talk to the patient's husband. The minute Linda touched his shoulder he began to cry. Linda's compassion and empathy were heartwarming. She gently consoled the husband as if he was her own son. Linda's amazing presence when this family was in crisis will touch their lives forever.
This truly was a miraculous story of which you were a key participant, an exceptional Nurse.
