I have 35 years of Army service, I came to the VA and had a successful double knee replacement. When I was moved to the 3rd floor and Lisa was assigned my room number, she immediately realigned furniture to accommodate my sleep machine. She had my bed swapped out to accommodate the restrictions I had. Lisa took the time to explain everything to me. She made me feel comfortable and not like I was a burden. I quickly noticed that she provided mentoring to the other staff. Always practicing safety habits as it was the most important thing to her patients and staff. As the days went by, Lisa encouraged me when I felt I was weak. She puts other people's needs in front of her own. I also learned that Lisa is close to graduating a BSN. This shows me just how dedicated and sincere Lisa is to her patients and career. I am truly inspired and thankful that Lisa was my nurse, as her compassion and career dedication helped keep me motivated and greatly enhanced a safer recovery for me. We need more people in this world like Lisa.
