Unfortunately for me, I came down with a bad infection after a rescue cerclage, causing me to go into labor at twenty weeks. I was so upset, scared, and not looking forward to any part of the delivery. Lisa came on shift at 7 am, about six hours after being sent to L&D from the third floor, and I could not have been in better hands. Lisa really is a God-sent angel for moms delivering prematurely. Her experience in dealing with a loss herself gives her such a heart and compassion to know how to love on and encourage patients going through the same. Lisa is so knowledgeable in the field, which brought so much peace and security for me as her patient. The entire time I was laboring, she was right there holding my leg, counting, and somehow still assisting Dr. W. to deliver our baby boy. Unfortunately, all of my placenta did not deliver sending me to the OR for removal. For the twenty or thirty minute procedure, Lisa never let go of my hand, assured me everything was going great and kept rubbing my head. I will NEVER forget the feeling of love and security I had with her right there beside me in the L&D room before and during delivery, and then especially in the OR. Once we left the OR, Lisa was very quick to make sure that our baby boy had special pictures taken for us to have of him, and then went above and beyond with making his hand and footprints on canvases for us to take home. These special little mementos will be such treasures in our family. Lisa is so incredible and has been an absolute blessing in such a difficult and sorrowful time. St. Joseph's is so lucky to have her as part of the team. She is an AMAZING nurse who really knows how to love on patients in difficult times, give knowledge in all circumstances, but most importantly give hope and incredible care.
