Lisa led a project to get a Milk Bank Donation site at Houston Methodist San Jacinto. This project was successful, and we are now one of a handful of donation sites in the Houston area. These sites allow for local mothers to donate their excess breast milk, which in turn helps critically ill neonates across the country to benefit from the lifesaving properties of breast milk. She is a true perinatal.

Lisa was the guiding force behind HMSJ being designated as a Mother's Milk Depot by the Austin Milk Bank in May 2015. One of the most important long-term health prevention measures parents can take for their newborn is to provide breast milk. However, not every woman can provide breast milk for her infant, but milk banks provide access to this "liquid gold" by allowing parents to purchase donated human milk (DHM) safely. The success of these milk banks relies on the number of donations of human milk they receive from the network of milk depot sites.
