My husband had an esophagectomy to remove an adenocarcinoma tumor. This was an extremely stressful and fearful time for our family. After having an 11-hour surgery, my husband was sent to the ICU. Over the course of the next 67 days, my husband developed life-threatening complications. It was many weeks before we had any hope that he had a chance of survival. Lou went above and beyond the scope of his duties to provide excellent care for my husband, to make every effort to ensure his comfort, but also our family. He was always attentive, professional, genuine and went out of his way to help in not only my husband's care and recovery but us as well. While most all the nurses were professional and thorough, Lou also kept the family apprised of any issues, taking the time to not only explain it in a way we could understand but he listened and he asked us questions. After 25 years together, my husband and I know every aspect of each other's quirks and norms. Lou is humble. He honestly and sincerely has a passion for what he does and showed respect always. We will forever be grateful.
