Lynn is instrumental in the educational aspect of our unit. Our unit is undergoing dramatic changes with increasing demands, higher census, new employees and a transition to a new unit with single family rooms for our infants and families. She has coordinated and taught our vast number of new orientees and travelers as well as the education for the entire staff to the new facility. She is always professional and respectful despite the high demands and responsibility that she faces daily. She is positive, energetic and her passion for our unit and our patients radiates. She works with the interdisciplinary team and integrates them in all aspects of our care. She also proactively works with staff and is supportive. When Lynn is working, you know the atmosphere will be positive, calm, happy and know that you can count on someone who has a vast knowledge and is willing to share her expertise. Lynn has been our lead educator with our new unit orientation. She has dedicated herself to trying to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Education is what sets the foundation for our nursing care, communicates priorities, and sets the standard for nursing care. Lynn is not only an extraordinary teacher, she is a superb clinician; a “nurse’s nurse”. She coaches new graduates through their preceptorships and has single-handedly coordinated and, indeed, taught all of our orientation to our new unit. As an expert clinician and teacher, her role as an instructor trainer melds her talents and profits not just the nursing staff but the whole team: doctors, NNPs and respiratory car but the ultimate winner, however is the infant. Lynn is the foundation of our NICU team, providing excellent care to each patient and family and is a true DAISY Nurse.
