I am a nursing mom who wanted (and finally succeeded) to donate my frozen breast milk for infants in the ICU. After contacting several Chicago hospitals I finally was connected with Marilyn, the Lactation Consultant at Illinois Masonic. Marilyn was the only person who could give me direction on how to donate my milk and she did so with such an incredibly kind and supportive tone on the telephone. Marilyn helped me connect with the Indiana Mother’s Milk Bank so I could start the donation process. After a month of paperwork, I was finally given approval to donate.
I reconnected with Marilyn who said I could drop the milk at your hospital and she would take care of the shipment – but she went one step further and I am overjoyed and shocked by her kindness and generosity. Out of the goodness of her heart she came to my home to pick up the milk to get it packaged correctly for the overnight shipment to Indianapolis. Her graciousness is beyond description and my appreciation is beyond words.
Marilyn has done an extraordinary service for me and the infants who need this milk, but equally important, she has made an extraordinary impression on me by representing your hospital so well. Thank you for having such a wonderful woman on staff. Chicago is lucky to have her and I am lucky to have connected with her.
