Mark is truly an invaluable resource to myself and the MICU team, doctors and nurses alike. Not only is Mark extremely knowledgeable and talented, he promotes an environment of strong teamwork and communication in a hectic environment. One of the many times Mark's talents were really appreciated was when he not only was able to place a peripheral IV on a patient with acute chest syndrome due to sickle cell crisis using the ultrasound, he also simply helped manage the patient who was very challenging. He didn't just perform the task of searching for a vein, he really engaged with the patient which was something most members of the medical and nursing team were not always successful with. I could fill a notebook with the times Mark has gone above and beyond, but what it boils down to is that we are really lucky to have him as a colleague and the patients really benefit from his care on a daily basis. Mark deserves the DAISY Award.
