On Sunday evening, my mother, was transported to Grandview Medical Center after falling in her home. She is 92 years old and by looking at her medicine I noticed her last dosage was taken on Thursday at noon! She was responsive, but unable to get up off the floor on her own. We encountered many nice employees that evening; that were eager to not only care for my mother, but the family also. Among all those special people, one especially got my attention. It was my mother's nurse in the SICU unit, Mary Riffey. I couldn't help but observe how proficient she was as a nurse. She definitely knew her way around her medical equipment and executed her skills as second nature; well beyond her years.
But what really got my attention was the "HALO," this young lady was wearing that she couldn't hide. Her compassionate care captivated me. She cared for my mother as if she was her own; who could ask for more? She was genuinely concerned with her health and she also genuinely rejoiced at my mother's improvement. Not all angels have "Halos"! Many are under our noses and go unnoticed because of that missing factor-but Mary couldn't keep hers hidden. Medicine and machines can only do so much but if coupled with the "Mary Factor," the Synergy can be miraculous. That is what a "Healer's Touch" is all about!
