Matt was extremely attentive to me during my preparation for surgery to remove a large screw form the metal strap holding my broken ankle in place. His attentiveness certainly continued following the surgery. Matt's friendly and informal manner was very welcoming and comforting. However, this bedside manner did not interfere with his providing clear and thorough explanations of the procedures being completed and/or what was expected of me following my discharge.
Matt's care exceeded what I believe would normally be expected of an attending nurse. In addition to his good humor, his understanding of and sensibility to my personal orientation contributed to a pleasant, supportive experience. For example, he often referred to my husband who accompanied me as "your husband" even acknowledging that we were welcome to exchange a kiss before I was taken to surgery, which we did. His level of accommodation even extended to loaning me a pair of his readers when I commented that I had left mine at home.
If Matt is typical of the quality of nursing staff at Warren Memorial Hospital, the community is indeed fortunate to have this healthcare facility in their midst. This was my first experience with WMH and from check in to discharge, I was very pleased with the treatment received. Most especially from Matt.
