Mavis Kramer graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing with her Diploma in Nursing. She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Rehab unit to pay her way through school. When she graduated, she continued to work in the same hospital (where she is still currently employed) and on the same unit for several years.

After a 3 year break to be a mother, she returned to that same unit as the Assistant Head Nurse. She later went part time on med/surg but returned to Rehab nearly 20 years ago. She continues to work in that same unit today.

Mavis was nominated for the DAISY Award by a colleague who thinks very highly of her. Here is what she had to say about Mavis:

Mavis is the epitome of a perfect role model for all young people desiring to enter the world of nursing.
Her compassion for patients runs deep and they can feel her sincerity.
Her professionalism is sharp and crisp, yet not seeking glorification, and her gentle patient care portrays her vast medical knowledge and respect of all persons.

Mavis treats her patients as unique individuals and seeks to find ways to provide the best care possible. She recently discovered that the use of warm blankets for one patient kept him calm enough that they were able to refrain from using restraints. Mavis is an asset to MMCSM and we are lucky to have her.
