I nominate Megan Collins, RN for the DAISY Award because she is the nurse I would want to take care of my family member. She is calm, patient, respectful, and comforting to her patients. When Megan worked as a medical surgical nurse, she was so helpful to other nurses, including float nurses especially showing them how to get things done so the patient received the best of care. Megan has never let her personal situation interfere with her ability to show compassion and understanding to her patients. Many times she came into work at night, after caring for her husband, with a heavy heart but never let it interfere with her ability to care for her patients. She always has a genuine smile for her patients and co-workers regardless of her personal situation. After handoff, patients always tell me how kind and reassuring Megan was to them while they were recovering in the ICU. So when I think of the embodiment of the DAISY Award, I think of Megan Collins.
